Who we are and how everything began
It all began in 2014 when we, Gabriele Schiebel and Angelika Ippendorf, co-founders oft he non-profit association, made a journey to South Africa to work as volonteers in a preschool and a school in Hout Bay (Cape Town) for six weeks to get to know the country and the people better.
The personal experiences that we shared, concerning the incredible social contrasts, an unbelievable poverty of whole groups of the population, the visit of a township which consists only of board partitions and plastic, seeing children fighting to survive - all this left deep emotional marks. Especially the enormous hunger for education that we experienced touched our hearts in a way we would not have expected.
Back home we thought about a sustainable way us to give these children a voice and with it the education they need.
We know that we are only a small association in a big social system, but if we were able to give hope to only a few children it would mean the world to us.
Our motivation:
Keep me away from the wisom which does not cry,
the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.
Khalil Gibran
